The WaTER Lab is expanding! Welcome to new Water Resource Science (WRS) graduate students Shelby Hammershmidt, Emma Burgeson, and Hannah Behar! We're excited to have you on the team.

Congratulations to current WaTER Lab member Peter Bouchard and new member Alex Peichel for being awarded UROPs (Undergraduate Research Opportunity Program). Peter will continue his work on quantifying transpiration of trees in wetlands affected by emerald ash borer, while Alex will look at the impact of mycorrhizae on plant water uptake. Congratulations Peter and Alex!

A few weeks ago, M.S. student Kinzey Stoll and I went scouting for field sites along the North Shore of Lake Superior. We were targeting gauged watersheds where we will sample stream water, precipitation, and snowpack to look at the effect of Lake Superior on isotopic signatures. We were treated to beautiful fall foliage and spectacular stream views. 

The WaTER lab welcomed its first graduate student, Kinzey Stoll. Kinzey comes to us from University Wisconsin Eau Claire, where she majored in Geology. She'll be working on a MS in the Water Resources Science (WRS) program and will be researching how Lake Superior affects the isotopic signatures of winter precipitation. Welcome Kinzey!
